RED STORM ROBOTICS OUTREACH & IMPACT

Our Red Storm Outreach

Red Storm makes FIRST happen in West Michigan by participating in many outreach activities, which include attending school Science Nights and school carnivals, the EK STEM Fair, our community homecoming festival, Kentwood Trunk or Treat, Kentwood Independence Day Parade (annual), and the Grand Rapids Confluence Festival.

Our Events

Red Storm runs five FIRST Robotics events for the robotics community. Our Red Storm students, alumni, mentors, families and friends provide a majority of the volunteers each year.

See the Hosted Events page for the current season schedule.

Red Storm In The Community

We value community service. We recently adopted the street near our high school and do our part to keep our neighborhood clean. We have been taking part in GE Community Day since 2013 — mural painting, landscaping, picnic table repair, bench building, and weeding at Lincoln School for the Disabled.

Red Storm Cares: Operation Face Shield (2020) — 3D-printed face shield headbands and mask ear guards for healthcare workers. We continue volunteering at Comprenew electronic equipment disassembly (since 2019), and built a bulletproof robot for the Grand Rapids Police Department (2018).

FLL & FTC Mentorship

FRC students volunteer as mentors for our own FLL Challenge, FLL Explore, and FTC teams. This keeps the program pipeline strong — younger students who’ve worked with our high-school mentors are the ones who walk in ready to contribute when they reach FRC.

Host Us

If your school, library, or community organization wants us to bring a robot to your event, get in touch. We do this year-round.
